So, here is a great moment, you’re getting married! Congratulations!

Of course your make-up is very important on this special day; but don’t worry, you can even do it yourself and be the most gorgeous girl of the day!

First, apply a base under you foundation to make it last longer (la Base Pro)

Then choose a long lasting foundation (Teint Idole Silky Mat) and please, please, use it, as usual, the exact colour of your skin! No need to have a fake (yellow) tan this day.

You don’t know how to choose the right color? Apply a little bit of product on your jaw, it’s the best way to be sure there’s no difference between your face and your neck.

Then set it with loose powder if you have some (color ideal powder). If not, compact powder is of course OK, don’t worry for this kind of detail.

As you will be photographed a lot, you have to think about highlights, it’s important. Place some shimmery powder on the top of the cheeks (just under the eyes), on the nose (but not till the end, you don’t want a spot of light à the end of your nose on photos, and just above your cupid’s bow to highlight your mouth as well.

Then place a fresh pink or peach blush (depending on your own taste and color of skin) on the apples of the cheeks. Choosing a very fresh colour is important to look healthy and radiant on this day. Don’t contour your face if you’re not used to it, you wouldn’t recognize yourself in the mirror.

For the eyes, it’s really up to you! Don’t think that a bride should wear only “translucent” colours on her eyes; if you like a beautiful smoky, of course do it ! Just be sure that the shadows will be long lasting, by a hint of concealer (La Touche Pro) on your lid before applying your shadows.

It’s the day for waterproof mascara! If you feel lost with all existing mascaras, you can make a little test here (French version here) to know exactly which one is the most adapted to your lashes and taste.

For the lips, as you will talk, kiss, drink and eat all day long, I recommend a light gloss that you will keep with you and will be very easy to re apply during the day.

If you want to intensify your make up for the evening, apply a darker shadow at the outer corner of the eye, and eye liner!

Nails? Lots of brides wear pale pink nails, but as for the eyes, you choose, and if you want a deep petrol blue or a glittery polish, please feel free to be yourself!

Have a beautiful day…

Wow, Hélène, your English is soooo good for a French girl! ^^ Thank you for all these advises.

Can this person speak English? I'm sure she's a good makeup specialist, but maybe someone should translate her work for her. It's really rough to read such unidiomatic sentences...

I don't understand why this article is so poorly written. Most of the articles on this site are very clear and concise, this is just unreadable and rambling.

Very interesting article, the author/makeup artist is right about the eyes, I think it's time women stop thinking they have to wear light pink for their wedding! (I kind of like the idea of blue nails, actually!)

Is this article written by a 12-year-old girl ?

@graziella @emily: This article was written by the French beauty blogger Hélène Legastelois, who is not a native English speaker. We are very honored to have Hélène contribute to our blog. We hope you continue to show interest in our blog. Best regards.

I really like this blog but why this article is so badly written? It's painful for the eyes...

It's a pitty I'm not getting married soon... Ladies, don't you think you're a bit rude with the writer? Ok, I'm french speaker but it doesn't looked that awfull! Aren't you a bit overreacting?

No one is overacting. I am French like she is and I can tell that this article is indeed bad written.... like directly translated from French to English. Furthermore, I don't like this conversational tone, this is kinda rough and sounds like it was written in a rush. There are billions of bridal makeup tutorials on the internet, which are always the same by the way. Boring (sorry...).

You have gorgeous article. I think this is a very helpful posting for many out there. After all Tara Copeland is very good at her job. nouvelleaesthetics1@gmail.com

Hi Emilie, I was just saying that the excellent content of the article could be better served with good english. I don't speak very good French, sure you could understand me but you would prefer something that sounds idiomatic.

Hello Penelope, Sorry, I wasn't talking of your comment. But "painful for the eyes" and "12-year-old girl".. That sounds a bit discourteous to me... that's it... Have a nice day!
